RULES OF THIS FORUM

Post  Admin on 1/26/2011, 9:41 pm

• This is a privately managed resident/homeowner forum. Discussion Posts are not directly monitored by any authority with
Timberlane Homes Association, Inc (THAI) and the board is not responsible for the content of ANY message posted.
• The messages express the views of the author of the message only. Any author who may hold a position on the Board of Directors,
past or present, posts merely as a resident and/or association member.
• Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact the author directly but may also contact the
forum administrator for further discussion and/or action. THAI has no authority to edit the forum in any way.

BY SIGNING UP AND POSTING ON THIS SITE YOU AGREE TO ABIDE BY THESE RULES:

This is an open Discussion Forum for residents/homeowners of Timberlane, but it is not the ANYTHING GOES Message Board. In a nutshell, your posts should be mature and respectful of fellow members. More specifically, please adhere to the rules listed below. These rules apply to the forums AND to private messages sent through this message board.

The Rules

Rule #1 – Do not personally attack other members.
You may not ever personally antagonize, attack, or insult another poster, even if they attacked you first. This includes statements which are disguised insults, provocative, or which are intended to be inflammatory. You must always word your statements so as to show clear intention to avoid any accidental antagonism. Do not make assumptions and accusations about another member. If you have suspicions or questions about someone’s motives or point of view, just ask them about it. Assumptions and accusations are completely uncalled for.

Rule #2 – Do not post any derogatory terms related to ethnicity, “race”, religion, nationality, gender, sexuality (or anything else!) unless it is in the context of discussing the term itself.

Rule #3– Do not troll the forum! (Lurkers are welcome. Trolls are NOT!)
Pushing an agenda, spreading false notions, propagating stereotypes, making generalizations, and overall unnecessary repetition will not be tolerated. Speaking repeatedly on an issue in a thread or threads where that topic is relevant is permissible. However, repeatedly addressing the same issue in multiple unrelated threads is a form of spamming/trolling.

Rule #4 – Do not make off-topic posts. Slight and/or brief deviations are typically tolerated. However, DO NOT HIJACK A THREAD. Every member has the ability to start a new thread or resurrect an old one. Please stay on topic. Off-topic posts may be deleted.

Rule #5 – Do not start an argument on the forum when another member points out that you have broken a rule. Whether the member is a moderator or not is irrelevant. The rules are in place to help maintain order. If you receive a formal warning from a moderator or a
friendly reminder from a fellow member, do NOT get defensive. Review the rule in question and if you still disagree with the correction/warning, then please contact a moderator in a private message.

Rule #6 – Do not wish violence or misfortune upon another member. You may never threaten another member, whether on the forum or in a private message, with any form of physical violence, or with damage to their property, or with harm to their loved ones. You may never opine that any physical harm or damage should come to another poster or that you would be pleased if this happened. You may never opine that any grave financial misfortune, mental illness, or serious distress should come to another poster or that you would be pleased if it did.

Rule #7 – Do not make private posts public. Do not post private messages to any of the forums or any other internet site. Even when posting to private threads or sending private messages, members should keep in mind that moderators have no control over what others do publicly with your posts outside of this site. Once you put those private words and pictures out there, they are out there.

Rule #8 – Do not spam the forum! Spamming the forum with commercial messages or pornographic posts will not be tolerated.

Consequences for Breaking the Rules

Warnings – You will be given one warning for each time you break Rules. Moderators will issue the warning in the thread where the offending post was made and/or in a private message. If you are given two warnings within seven days, then you will be subject to suspension.

Suspensions –Your first suspension will last one week. Your second suspension will last one month. The third time you are eligible for a suspension, the moderators will decide on the length of your suspension or whether a permanent ban is in order. Again, this will be decided by a majority of currently active moderators.

Banning – In addition to what has been stated above about banning, you will be banned immediately for breaking Rule #8.
All bans are subject to appeal, in which case the moderators will hold a second vote. After the first appeal, all decisions by the moderators are final. Banning will result in the permanent deletion of your account, and the revocation of your privilege to create any other account in the future.
